The FFL Fellows Program

The CWD Fellows Program provides endocrine Fellows, recent PhD graduates, and healthcare professionals with new CDCES credentials a chance to experience life with type 1 diabetes at Friends for Life. Fellows will engage directly with real T1D families over five to six days at FFL, where the diverse gathering of nearly 2,000 attendees is evenly split between adults and children with diabetes and their families. They'll also gain hands-on experience with vendors, exploring technologies like continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps. Fellows will have the opportunity to present their research at the Friday Night Dessert with the Faculty. Through this program, Fellows form connections with other HCPs, renowned conference faculty, and families attending Friends for Life.

Girls with Bracelets

Why We Wear Green + Orange Bracelets

The bracelets? They were a mix of necessity and practicality, sprinkled with some pretty significant magic. Attendees who wear green bracelets are living with type 1 diabetes, everyone else—their parent, guardian, spouse, significant other, friend, etc.—wear orange bracelets. But the “magic” is what these green and orange bracelets have come to mean. The magic has been added by this green and orange – and sometimes yellow – amazing international tribe, tens of thousands of people strong, over a span of twenty years.

Is FFL just for children and their families?

No! In 2023, nearly 57% of attendees with type 1 diabetes were adults.
